Private Equity Investing with Bassem Mansour of Resilience Capital

November 16, 2018 @ 7:30 am - 9:00 am

Event Recap:

The Center For Free Enterprise hosted its 19th consecutive sold-out program on Friday, November 16, 2018 at The Racquet Club in Pepper Pike, Ohio.

In front of the CFE’s largest audience ever, Bassem Mansour waxed poetically about the inception of Resilience Capital Partners in 2001, some of his best investments, raising institutional capital, and his strategic vision going forward. To the last item, Mr. Mansour told a rapt audience that RCP hopes to move down market, at least for some of its deals, to find a less competitive bidding environment and relatively lower prices.

The author of a recent column titled “Negotiated Deals” in Smart Business, Mr. Mansour talked about the advantages to both the seller and the buyer to avoid wide auctions and enter into a negotiated sale. Amongst the benefits he identified were faster closing speed, less disruption, increased flexibility in deal structure and comparable pricing. This list seemed to resonate with the sophisticated audience typical of a CFE event.

Before completing an action and information packed hour long discussion, Ben Calkins, the session moderator, asked Mr. Mansour to tell the audience more about the charity upon which he focuses much of his attention and energy. That effort is “Pathway to Resilience” which launched in 2017 through the Boys and Girls Clubs of Cleveland. The program is a six-month career readiness and mentoring program for young men who were incarcerated or involved in gang activity.

In a 2017 interview, Mr. Mansour stated “Cleveland is America’s second-poorest city and has the third-lowest high school graduation rate among the nation’s biggest cities. Look at our poorest neighborhoods, and you’ll understand that this program is good for our young men, better for our companies and essential for our city.” To donate to Pathway to Resilience or to learn more, you can give at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Cleveland site or give to a related group also supported by Resilience, the Cleveland Peacemakers Alliance.
